Praise the Lord!
But the more they were called, the more they went away from me. They sacrificed to the Baals and they burned incense to images. It was I who taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by the arms; but they did not realize it was I who healed them.
Hosea brings us a stunning insight as Israel was about to succumb to the Assyrians. Ephraim (another name for Nothern Israel) repeated the same error over and over—they would not acknowledge that all that they had came from the Lord. We run the same risk today. God has upheld us when we could not hold ourselves up. But an even great truth is here; we never held ourselves up to begin with. God has been in front, behind, above, and beneath our lives in ways that we will not be able to comprehend this side of heaven. This should make us want to thank God for the hidden ways that He is involved in our lives.
