Ephesians 2:19-22 - Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people

Praise the Lord!

Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

Look at this magnificent statement about community. Paul paints a word picture of a temple made of people. We are standing on the original work of Jesus Christ and his servants, the apostles and prophets, but unlike an earthly temple that is finished, this one continues to be built. When we gather with each other the structure rises a little more. We all experience the dynamic power of God’s Spirit as we are built into each other. We are no longer on the outside, so step into God’s living building and allow God’s Spirit to lift you up.
